Landings

musings at life’s intersections

thoughts on love, family, and finding home

Welcome

Welcome and thank you for joining me here.

I’m Erika Lopez.

Mother, wife, aspiring writer and gardener among other things. After taking the Strengthfinder test through my church and finding out my top strength was Communication, I started writing. I figured if God gave me my strengths then maybe I should start using them, despite having pushed aside writing for more “important” pursuits my whole life.

I’ve decided to start sharing some of my writings here on this site I’ve named Landings. Landings are a place of pause between two sets of stairs. A place to rest, to contemplate your direction, a place to change course if needed.

In these essays, I share some thoughts on faith. Some thoughts on grief. Some thoughts on my upbringing as a child of two immigrant parents. And some thoughts on finding and creating a home for myself and my family in a new city.

My writing is deeply personal and I hope you’ll respect that this is my place to share my feelings and perspectives. If you disagree with me, I hope you see it as an opportunity to clarify how you really feel on any topic and an opportunity to practice empathy and see an issue from another’s point of view.

I hope you enjoy it. And since Connectedness is also one of my Strengths, perhaps my biggest hope is that sharing these stories might bring us more connection in a fractured world.

Please check back from time to time and leave a comment if a post touches you in some way. I’m learning and all feedback is helpful.

Thank you for visiting.

Erika
