Coming Soon: The Adventures of Amazing Grace

A children’s chapter book about family, flying, magic and friendship! Available this Fall 2023!

I'm excited to announce I am launching my children’s chapter book, The Adventures of Amazing Grace, about a nine-year-old girl who finds out she can fly!

Third grader, Grace, and her cousin, Mia, discover the thrill of flying, face their fears to help their friend Adrian, and learn about the ties that bind families together in this chapter book that targets eight- to ten-year-old readers. The Adventures of Amazing Grace includes multi-generational family dynamics, Spanish customs and vocabulary with an accompanying glossary, and a dash of magical realism.

This book was inspired by a dream turned bedtime story for my daughter. In reading other books with her, I noticed the lack of positive, exciting stories that feature strong female protagonists and healthy friendships. This book is the first in a planned series in which children follow along as Grace, Mia and Adrian discover family secrets and their own special gifts. The second book is currently in production.

As a daughter of immigrants, and a former employee at a bilingual school, I’ve seen first-hand what children and adults look for in children’s literature, as well as the growing need for Latinx representation. I have been writing for online publications including Charlotte is Creative and have had essays published by Scary Mommy and WomenFaithStory, including the essay about the dream that inspired The Adventures of Amazing Grace.

Beta readers in the target age demographic have given feedback that includes “I loved the characters, especially Adrian,” and “I can’t wait to read the next one!” The highest praise came from parents of children that don’t typically enjoy independent reading who begged to continue reading The Adventures of Amazing Grace every night. The book is also perfect for parents and children to read together and is written in a dyslexic-friendly font for accessibility.

The central messages in The Adventures of Amazing Grace are needed now more than ever for children- coming together as a family, using your gifts and talents to help others, and overcoming fear. As Grace would say, “It's ok to be scared, but don't let fear stop you. Listen to your heart.”
